High quality standards guaranteed
Border protection authority and small animal station
Neue Grenzkontrollstelle am Flughafen München von außen
In 2007 a new border inspection post and small animal station opened at Munich Airport to the west of the existing Cargo Center.

Demand is on the increase
The new border inspection post is a key building block in our determined effort to develop Munich Airport into a European-level logistics center. The building, with a total area of 1500 square meters, can be expanded as needed in response to increasing future demand.

Smooth handling
The new border inspection post permits smooth handling of all imported goods in compliance with EU regulations. The new, state-of-the-art facility provides protection against animal diseases from being introduced while ensuring species-appropriate accommodation of animals as well as storage of goods in transit in various temperature zones. It also carries out inspections of the required documents and ensures full compliance with EU health, hygiene and quality standards.

In addition, the border inspection post inspects and provides proper interim storage for all other products of animal origin such as leather and hide products until they continue their journey to their final destination.

Munich Airport has EU accreditation in the following areas:
  • Import of packaged/covered foods, frozen, refrigerated and at ambient temperature (human consumption)
  • Import of packaged goods in the non-food segment, frozen, refrigerated and at ambient temperature (non-human consumption)
  • Import of small animals (live)
