April 1: Opening of the Kempinski Hotel
The Kempinski Hotel Airport Munich opens for business. The official opening takes place on May 17, the new airport's second anniversary. The five-star hotel has approximately 400 rooms and suites, conference rooms, restaurants, bars and a sports and fitness center.

March 27: Deutsche BA moves its corporate headquarters, maintenance center and operations center to Munich. That means more domestic flights and excellent links to the global network of the British Airways Group.

June 3: Maiden flight by Air Mauritius with the Airbus A340. It is the first airline to offer a scheduled service to Munich with the world's most advanced wide body jet.

November 4: Munich becomes an extended hub for Condor. Every Friday, 14 aircraft arrive in the morning and again in the evening within a span of 35 minutes. Each time, 3,000 passengers and 4,000 pieces of luggage are handled in just 45 minutes.
