April 27: FMG is chosen from among 42 bidders for the contract to plan and manage the relocation of the German parliament, with 5,000 employees, from Bonn to Berlin.
July 22: The architects Koch & Partner, of Munich, are commissioned to design and build Terminal 2 after winning the architectural competition. Plans for the new terminal call for an annual capacity of 15 million passengers.
October 12: Opening of the new arrival and waiting area A/B West. Situated on the airport apron, the new building will provide relief for the busy A and B arrival and departure areas until Terminal 2 is completed.
