Welcome to EFM
EFM has specialized in aircraft towing and de-icing services at Munich Airport for more than 15 years. As a subsidiary of Lufthansa and FMG we treat quality as our top priority while strictly limiting the environmental impact of our operations.
One-stop shop
In November 1992, Lufthansa and Munich Airport formed EFM (Gesellschaft für Enteisen und Flugzeugschleppen am Flughafen München mbH) as a joint subsidiary.
In this company they combined the handling activities from the airport in Riem, some of which they carried out jointly (towing), and some separately (de-icing). Due to the strict environmental regulations and the major investments and complex processes required for compliance with them, the new Munich Airport could no longer operate these services as a “sideline”, and therefore turned them over fully to EFM.

In the more than 15 years since EFM was formed, it has become a fixed feature of operations at Munich Airport, providing reliable performance for its customers and partners at all times. In the de-icing segment we have an excellent world-wide reputation. This is reflected in the many customers and colleagues from all over the globe who visit us to learn about our unique de-icing system, the only one of its kind on this scale anywhere in the world.
