T2 is a unique joint project by the airport operator FMG and Deutsche Lufthansa AG and is used exclusively by Lufthansa, the Star Alliance and Lufthansa code-share partners. This terminal (opened in 2003) is the first terminal building worldwide which has been specifically tailored to the needs of hub traffic which makes changing planes at MUC both comfortable and efficient. After just one year of operation the new facility was firmly established as one of Europe's fastest and most efficient terminals for connecting passengers. Passengers flying via Munich's Terminal 2 enjoy far greater convenience than at many major hubs. No other major European hub can rival its minimum connecting time (MCT) of just 30 minutes.

Terminal 1 is clearly structured and modular, making it easy to get to your next destination- whether it is the taxi stand or another gate.

The HCC is a highly successful team effort between Munich Airport, Lufthansa and Terminal 2's "command center" for maximizing connectivity, full of activity day and night where a busy staff of 35 specialists is responsible for coordinating the entire range of handling processes. This ensures that all interactions are direct, face-to-face and immediate. A key element of the HCC is the Connex Center, where a team of experts is in charge of ensuring that passengers and their baggage reach their connecting flights. They maintain constant contact with air traffic control, can request priority landing clearance and reassign gate positions to minimize the distance that connecting passengers have to cover. Even when incoming flights are delayed, leaving less than the required 30 min to make connections, the HCC team pulls out all the stops, dispatching the special "ramp direct service" to pick up passengers and their luggage right at the gate and drive them directly to their connecting flight.

With the terminal's clear signage and user-friendly layout, passengers find their way quickly and easily. Screens at every arrival gate display all onward connections relevant to the deboarding passengers. Seven Lufthansa Service Centers provide the full range of Lufthansa services. Moving sidewalks, fast-track passport screening and high-speed baggage sorting facilities ensure that connections run like clockwork.

When incoming flights are delayed, Ramp Direct Service (RDS) or Gate Direct Service (GDS) picks up passengers and their luggage at the aircraft or at the arrival gate and escort passengers directly to their connecting flight. If customs and passport control are required, passengers pass a special ramp-side check-point.
