LabCampus cooperates with Massachusetts Institute of Technology to develop a smart city concept

On November 1, LabCampus and the renowned Senseable City Lab, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), signed an agreement to provide conceptual support for the establishment and development of the new innovation campus. Under an initial three-year cooperation agreement, the MIT Senseable City Lab, based in Cambridge, MA, will act as a research partner, supporting the team in Munich as it turns the campus into an innovative smart city. The aim is to build an ideal urban environment offering optimal conditions for people and companies to work together efficiently, creatively and –above all– under one roof. This will provide a setting to design and develop products and services for the world of the future and to test them onsite. To make this a reality, LabCampus GmbH will work with MIT to establish a future-ready infrastructure right from the start, focusing on state-of-the-art technologies in the areas of energy, mobility and urban planning as well as the connectivity between them for optimal sustainability and livability for the users.

LabCampus at the Expo Real

Europe`s biggest B2B trade fair for property and investment took place on October 8-10, 2018 in Munich. LabCampus was there for the first time with its own trade fair presentation at the Munich Airport stand. Dr. Marc Wagener, Managing Director of LabCampus GmbH, presented the LabCampus innovation ecosystem to an international audience of trade fair visitors here on the second day of the trade fair. LabCampus was able to gain lots of new contacts and interesting conversations and called this trade show a success.

LabCampus as part of the DLD conference Singapore

The first DLD (Digital, Life, Design) Conference was held in Singapore on October 1st. The internationally renowned conference and innovation platform was organized by the Munich media group Hubert Burda Media and brought together investors, founders, artists, scientists and technology companies. During a panel discussion about smart cities, Dr. Marc Wagener, the Managing Director of LabCampus GmbH, discussed with representatives of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Pictet about the future city of tomorrow.

LabCampus at the Day of the Bavarian Industry in Brussels

At the Day of the Bavarian Industry on 26 September 2018, companies and associations from Bavaria will have the opportunity to present their products and services at European level in Brussels. As Managing Director of LabCampus GmbH, Dr. Marc Wagener will present the innovation campus to Bavarian industry representatives, representatives of the EU Commission and Council and Members of the European Parliament. Executives from renowned Bavarian companies such as Audi, BMW, Infineon, MAN, Rohde & Schwarz and the Landesverband Bayerischer Transport- und Logistikunternehmen (LBT) (association of Bavarian transport and logistics undertakings) are expected to attend this international meeting.

LabCampus at Future Travel Experience Las Vegas

The leading international exhibition and conference for airlines, airports, terminal designers, architects and other stakeholders from the travel industry took place in Las Vegas from September 10 - 12. Sarah Wittlieb, Vice President Innovation and Creation at LabCampus GmbH, spoke about the airport of the future and appeared with representatives from BMW Design Works, Japan Airlines, Orion Span and Virgin Hyperloop One as member of a panel discussion. The Global Future Travel Experience focusing this year on the theme "Disrupt, Or Be Disrupted" provides a unique platform for placing the innovation services offered by Munich Airport in North America.

VBW Business Excellence Day 2018

Bavarian companies demonstrated their competence in implementing future technologies at Business Excellence Day 2018 in Munich. Executives from key Bavarian companies and institutions such as FIT AG, eos, Brose, TU Munich, Fraunhofer Institut or Munich University of Applied Sciences spoke about digital transformation, new manufacturing methods and the change from product-oriented to customer-centric thinking in production. As member of the expert panel, Dr. Marc Wagener provided a guide to the services offered by LabCampus at the Haus der Bayerischen Wirtschaft Conference Centre on July 23. 

Go-ahead for LabCampus

At Munich Airport a cross-company and cross-industry ideas center is being created with LabCampus, where everything revolves around innovation. This visionary project was officially launched on March 8 with an inaugural multimedia event.

At LabCampus in the Airsite West area, the intention is for companies and research institutes, start-ups and global players, creatives and investors to come together. Go-ahead for the project was officially given by Bavaria's Minister of State for Finance Albert Füracker, Airport President and CEO Dr. Michael Kerkloh and Thomas Weyer. The some 200 guests included many representatives from the world of politics and industry.

Representatives of potential partner companies discussed their vision of LabCampus on the podium. Participants in the round of talks were Professor Dr. Kathrin M. Möslein (Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg), Michael O. Schmutzer (Managing Director Design Offices GmbH), Dr. Roland Busch (Member of the Managing Board Siemens AG), Catharina van Delden (Managing Director innosabi GmbH) and Anja Schneider (Global Vice Präsident SAP).

In essence LabCampus is for me the vision of a location, where individual innovators and innovation initiatives but also research and development centers of global companies meet and drive forward new developments.
