Sunflower Program

Small Sunflower, big meaning

The green lanyard with sunflowers is an internationally recognized symbol for people with invisible disabilities. Passengers use it to indicate that they may need additional support or more time. This raises awareness among Munich Airport staff, who can then assist travelers with extra time, patience, or individual help.

What are invisible disabilities?

Invisible or hidden disabilities are disabilities, conditions or chronic illnesses that are not immediately apparent. These can include, for example:

  • Parkinson's disease, ADHD, autism
  • Cognitive (such as dyslexia, dementia)
  • Mental health conditions, anxiety
  • Speech disabilities, sight or hearing loss
  • Respiratory or chronic health conditions (asthma, diabetes, chronic pain)
  • Munich Airport staff are aware of this and can support travelers by allowing extra time, showing patience, or providing individual assistance.
