From September 7 to 11, 2026, Munich Airport's AirportAcademy welcomed seventeen airport professionals from eleven countries to the "Global Air Mobility Systems Course" (GAMS). As a certified training partner of Airports Council International (ACI World), the Airport Academy hosted the five-day, in-person course, which serves as the entry point to the Airport Management Professional Accreditation Program (AMPAP).
AMPAP is a joint continuing education program developed by ACI and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for experienced specialists and executives in airport management. The program’s goal is to impart international expertise and guide participants on their path to the globally recognized "International Airport Professional" (IAP) certification.
The GAMS course combines theory, strategy, and practical applications. It helps participants assess strategic developments in the industry, analyze current challenges, and identify new courses of action for the sustainable development of air travel. The focus is on new mobility trends, changing passenger expectations, and the interaction among various stakeholders (including airports, airlines, government agencies, and international organizations). The overarching goal is to translate global developments in aviation into concrete management decisions.
Dr. Jan-Henrik Andersson, Chief Commercial Officer of Munich Airport, welcomed the participants at the program’s kickoff and emphasized: "International exchange is a crucial factor for the continued development of our industry. The GAMS course brings together airport professionals from around the world to learn from one another, gain new perspectives, and develop joint solutions to the challenges of tomorrow’s aviation industry. Munich offers an ideal environment for this, as innovation, digitalization, and operational excellence are put into practice every day in airport operations here."
In addition to expert presentations, interactive workshops, and hands-on case studies, the course week provided ample opportunity for international exchange. The LabCampus, Munich Airport’s innovation center, provided a unique setting for the course. There, companies, research institutions, technology partners, and aviation experts collaborate on innovative solutions for tomorrow's mobility.
