Munich Airport International GmbH (MAI) and its subsidiary, Munich Airport NJ LLC (MANJ) Operators of Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), are proud to announce that EWR Terminal A was recognized as the “World’s Best New Airport Terminal,” during the 2024 Skytrax World Airport Awards held at the Passenger Terminal Expo & Conference in Frankfurt, Germany. 

Munich Airport International GmbH (MAI) and its subsidiary, Munich Airport NJ LLC (MANJ), today announced Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) was awarded a 5-Star Airport Terminal Rating from Skytrax, the air travel industry’s premier rating organization. 

A great success for Munich Airport: In an audit by Skytrax, the London-based aviation consultancy, Bavaria’s gateway to the world has retained its title as a “5-Star Airport.” After scrutinizing service quality and visitor experience at the airport as part of a re-audit, the experts from Skytrax again awarded the Bavarian air transportation hub their 5-Star rating. 

At the international Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference & Awards 2023 in Bangkok, the Hilton Munich Airport scored in two categories. Marcel Tauschek, Chef of the Michelin-starred Mountain Hub Gourmet restaurant, was awarded "Airport Hotel Chef of the Year". 

Munich Airport has received two awards at the prestigious World Airport Awards. At the prize ceremony held during Passenger Terminal EXPO in Amsterdam, Munich Airport was honored with the awards for Best Airport Staff in Europe and Best Airport in Central Europe.

Munich Airport and Lufthansa can bask in the glory of a highly coveted accolade: At the 2017 World Airports Award, announced by the London-based Skytrax Institute, Munich Airport's Terminal 2 was honored as the world's number one terminal. The rankings are based on a survey of 14 million passengers around the world. Terminal 2, which opened in 2003, now includes the new satellite facility that went into operation last April. The completion of the expansion project has increased Terminal 2's capacity from 11 million to 36 million passengers per year. The new building has 27 pierside stands, providing passengers with direct access to their aircraft with no need for a bus transfer. Terminal 2 is jointly operated by Munich Airport and Lufthansa as a 60:40 partnership.
